Everything you need to know about our pottery, how it's made, and how to take care of it.
About the pottery
Yes — every single piece is thrown by hand on the wheel or hand-built in my studio. No molds, no mass production. Because of this, slight variations in shape, glaze, and size are a natural part of each piece's character, not a flaw.
I work primarily with stoneware and terracotta clays, fired to cone 6 in an electric kiln. All glazes are food-safe and lead-free. Many of my glazes are mixed in-studio from raw materials, which is why the colors have that rich, layered depth you won't find in commercial ceramics.
Close, but not identical — and that's the beauty of it. Each piece is one of a kind. The photo shows a representative example of that style. Glaze colors can shift slightly depending on kiln placement and firing temperature, which I think makes each piece a little more special.
All glazed surfaces are food-safe. For dishwasher use, I recommend hand-washing to preserve the glaze and extend the life of your piece — the heat and harsh detergents in dishwashers can dull the finish over time. Unglazed terracotta pieces should always be hand-washed.
Shipping & delivery
Orders are packed and shipped within 3–5 business days. Once shipped, domestic delivery typically takes 5–8 business days via USPS Priority Mail. You'll receive a tracking number by email as soon as your order is on its way.
Every piece is wrapped in multiple layers of bubble wrap, nestled in packing peanuts, and double-boxed for extra protection. I've shipped hundreds of pieces and take great care to make sure yours arrives safely. In the rare event of damage in transit, please see the returns section below.
Not at the moment — I currently ship within the US only. International shipping for fragile handmade ceramics is tricky to do well, and I want to make sure every piece arrives in perfect condition. I hope to expand in the future!
If you need something by a specific date, reach out before ordering and I'll do my best to accommodate. Expedited shipping may be available for an additional fee depending on your location.
Returns & damage
Because each piece is one of a kind and made to order, I don't accept returns for change of mind. However, if you're unhappy with your purchase for any reason, please reach out within 7 days of delivery and I'll work with you to find a solution.
I'm so sorry if that happens — it's rare but it does occur. Please photograph the damaged piece and packaging within 48 hours of delivery and send the photos to me via the contact form. I'll either send a replacement or issue a full refund, your choice.
Custom orders
Yes! I love working on custom pieces. Whether it's a specific glaze color, a personalized set, or a one-of-a-kind gift, get in touch via the contact form with your idea and I'll let you know if it's something I can make happen.
Custom pieces typically take 4–8 weeks from deposit to shipping, depending on complexity and my current studio schedule. I'll give you a more specific timeline when we discuss your order. Rush timelines may be possible — just ask.
I do work with a small number of shops and restaurants on wholesale arrangements. If you're interested in carrying my work or ordering in volume, please reach out with details about your business and what you're looking for.
Caring for your pottery
Hand-washing with warm water and mild dish soap is always best. Avoid soaking pieces for extended periods, especially unglazed or partially glazed work. Pat dry rather than leaving to air-dry in a pool of water.
Most glazed stoneware pieces are microwave-safe for reheating food. However, pieces with metallic accents (gold or silver luster) should never go in the microwave. When in doubt, check the product description or ask me directly.
Unglazed terracotta benefits from seasoning before first use. Submerge the piece in water for 30 minutes, then let it dry completely. This helps prevent cracking and reduces absorption. Repeat occasionally if the piece starts to look dry or chalky.
